Double Bass Giants

As we all know, listening is one of the most important processes that we as musicians need to go through. The purpose of this section of the site is to expose as many people as possible to the music and works of great Jazz Double Bass players.

Although we have entitled this section 'Double Bass Giants', there are one or two bassists listed who are not as well known as others but have made notable contributions to Jazz.

For each bassist there are photographs, biographies, discographies, external links and in some cases transcription studies of their works. This is a continually growing resource so please check back once in a while or join the mailing list to get notified when new material is added.

Please note that in order not to demonstrate any preference to any of these players, they have been listed in alphabetical order.

NOTE: I am in the process of revamping this section and working with some very experienced players to establish a set of criteria for inclusion of players here. If you're on the mailing list you will receive an email when this has been completed.
